Rolfe Kanefsky is an award-winning screenwriter/director who has been working professionally in the film business for over twenty years. In fact, his debut film, the cult horror comedy THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE is being re-released this fall for its 20th Anniversary DVD Special Edition, and the reviews are fantastic. "NOTHING has a lot going for it"- L.A. Times. "Rolfe Kanefsky invented the self-referential horror flick with THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE (an idea copied by Kevin Williamson's screenplay for SCREAM several years later)."- Job Bob Briggs.
Now, with over 30 produced feature films, his resume includes BLONDE AND BLONDER starring Pamela Anderson and Denise Richards; Lions Gate and After Dark's NIGHTMARE MAN, one of the eight films selected for Horrorfest, and which turned into the 15th bestseller DTV horror film of 2008; the Warner Brothers release of JACQUELINE HYDE; the teen comedies PRETTY COOL & PRETTY COOL TOO!; the thriller TOMORROW BY MIDNIGHT with Carol Kane, Alexis Arquette, and Jorge Garcia; and the horror flick THE HAZING starring Brad Dourif, Brooke Burke, and Perry Shen.
Most recently, Kanefsky wrote and directed the modern film noir ONE IN THE GUN starring Steven Man, Steven Bauer, Robert Davi, and James Russo which played as the closing night film of the 2010 Soho International Film Festival. He also just wrapped production on a slate of independent features including a full-length musical comedy, a James Bond parody, and a sexy vampire thriller. His latest horror thriller screenplay SCREAM PARK has just been optioned by Marc Amin's Sobini Films and he has penned a proposed 20 million dollar re-imagining of the world famous sexual icon "EMMANUELLE" for a mainstream theatrical release in 2011.
Kanefsky also contributed to Jim Vine's book, "Q & A: The Working Screenwriter" alongside such other successful writers including David J. Schow (THE CROW), Brent Maddock (SHORT CIRCUIT, TREMORS), Katrerine Fugate (VALENTINE'S DAY), Stephen Susco (THE GRUDGE 1 & 2), Allison Burnett (AUTUMN IN NEW YORK) and has just been invited on a panel for "Writing In The Horror Genre" for the Screenwriter's Network at the Universal Studios Backlot.
Kanefsky won a top screenplay award at L.A. Shriekfest competition and was a featured cover story of Hollywood Scriptwriter magazine, which profiled Kanefsky and his body of work. Kanefsky has also received acclaim for his scripts and directing in Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Fangoria Magazine, New York Times, L.A. Times, L.A. Weekly, and many film websites. His features have been selected and have won multiple awards at prestigious film festivals around the world.
